I recommend Scranton Animal Hospital over other local hospitals. You get the best two Veterinary Dr's around. You don't get a different one every time. They care a great deal about your pet and also you. Yesterday I had to take my beautiful Bichon in for the very last time. Instead of metal table, I asked if I could hold her in chair for the remaining 15 minutes. They were so kind. They left the room. I held her like a baby in her blanket. I softly sang to her for entire time. It was a sweet surrender. Please note, Drs were in. surgery, so at worst time. I was put on hold, how soon can you get here, ten minutes I said. Come now. Afterwards girls in office and myself, we all cried. They are beyond passionate. For those concerned about cost $177. Unbelievable. So don't hesitate. God bless all animal lovers. They are angels on earth ❤️.
I am new to the area and was worried about who would take care of my fur babies! I am here to say I am SO THANKFUL to have met Dr. Dorton and his team! He was so kind and warm-hearted! He treated my dog Maggie, as his own and as if we have been going there for years. Very positive attitudes all around in the office and everyone was so happy and helpful. You can tell Dr. Dorton was born to be a Vet, just an awesome experience all around :-)
They have been wonderful through 25 years of our furry family from Guinea pigs to rats to hamsters and our beloved dogs. Always humane, always informative. Highly recommend.
I brought my cat Henry in for a yearly exam on Monday, November 10, 2025. I was seen promptly by Dr. Keith Dorton and the vet technician. Both of them were very kind and gentle with Henry, giving him a thorough exam and updating his vaccinations. Henry has been coming to Scranton Animal Hospital for 2 years. In November 2023, he was extremely ill with infected teeth and had been vomiting for several days. Due to the prompt and focused care provided by Dr. Dorton and team members, Henry was able to improve enough to have dental surgery, which ultimately alleviated the mouth infection. Since then, Henry has been living his best life. I am very grateful that Henry has access to such competent and caring veterinary professionals nearby, who can help keep him healthy. Where to start... the care and compassion the entire staff showed me when I had to make the most horrible decision any pet parent has to make was beyond their job. Stump was my heart. Some say just a cat. But he was my world. Saying goodbye has gutted me. They went above and beyond to make it as peaceful and easy. Not only for him, but me. Right up to when I picked up his ashes. They generally care. Not only end of life care, but well visits. The staff and Dr Kyle are absolutely amazing. The cat distribution system glitched. I went from none to ...too many in a few months. No judgement. Just understanding. Actually the only vet I could find to take new patients. And they actually care. I can not recommend enough. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart. The BEST care in the area, this father/son team of Doctors, are the MOST competent, compassionate, and caring. They truly love what they do and excel at it. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I’m new to the area and needed a vet because my cat had tapeworms. I called this place early in the morning and they were able to get her in the same day. We got that issue resolved and then later on we set up an appt for my cat to get fixed. She was having an issue with bowel movements after the surgery so they were able to see her the same day I called. We got this resolved as well and they said she is healing and recovery nicely from the surgery. All of the staff are super nice, they actually care about your pet and they are so good with my cat. Dr. Keith Dorton is very nice as well, his demeanor is very calm which is helpful especially when you’re anxious about your pet being sick/hurt. I’m only living in the area temporarily but I will continue to bring my cat to this vet during my stay here in Scranton.
Exceptional experience! Definitely will be returning for maintenance/diagnostic care for my working K9. The staff & doctor were very courteous & knowledgeable- Dr spent plenty of time with us & did not try to up sell radiographs, Rx, or bloodwork. Awesome diagnostician. Highly recommend! Thank you!
This place is absolutely wonderful. They got my guinea pig in super quick when he was sick, and they treated me like family the first time I came in! Prices are super affordable for exotic pets compared to other vets in the area.
Wonderful staff, compassionate. We brought our 14 year old Whiskers found out she had cancer. She crossed over on 4/21. The support & understand was terrific. Highly recommend.
